Same Day Crowns
Dental crowns help to strengthen and preserve teeth, saving them from extraction. In the past, getting a dental crown meant attending at least two appointments at Anderson Dental. The first appointment involved preparing the tooth for a crown and obtaining X-rays, then waiting two to three weeks for your customized crown to come back from our laboratory. The second appointment consisted of Dr. Anderson fitting the permanent crown.
Thanks to a technology called CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, you can receive same-day crowns in Brandon, FL. Dr. Anderson will let you know if you are a good candidate to receive a crown when you come in for your next dental exam.
How Do Same-Day Crowns Work?
CEREC utilizes computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to design and create your customized crown during a single office visit. Dr. Anderson takes several images of your tooth and sends them to the computer. The software then designs the crown, and our onsite milling machine creates it on the spot.
While CEREC is preparing your crown, Dr. Anderson gets your tooth ready for it by removing part of its enamel and structure. This is necessary to ensure that the crown fits properly on the top of your tooth. Once the machine has finished the manufacturing process, Dr. Anderson affixes the crown to your tooth with dental cement.
